How to read it读音

醒xǐng: Today it is read xǐng. In old times it also had a level-tone reading that rhymes with tíng, qīng, yíng and chéng.现在读 xǐng。古时候这个字也有平声的读法，和“亭、青、盈、程”押韵。
曲qū: Shuǐ qū means a bend in the water, so it is read qū.“水曲”是水流弯曲的地方，读 qū。
曲qǔ: Jiù qǔ means an old song, so it is read qǔ.“旧曲”是从前的歌曲，读 qǔ。

Background创作背景

In this lyric the poet is on a journey. Early in the morning, still half drunk, he gets on his horse. Passing a pavilion by a ferry, he finds the poem he once wrote on its wall, now covered in moss. He remembers a singing girl and friends he knew in Jiangling years ago, and feels very sad. One view says Zhou Bangyan lived in Jingzhou, the area of Jiangling, for a while when he was young, and that this lyric looks back on that time. The exact year is not known.

这首词写诗人在旅途中，清早酒还没醒就上马赶路，经过一座渡口的亭子，发现自己从前在墙上题的诗还在，已经长满了青苔。他想起多年前在江陵认识的歌女和朋友，十分伤感。一说周邦彦年轻时在荆州（江陵）住过一段时间，这首词写的就是那段往事，但具体写在哪一年并不清楚。

The poet作者

Zhou Bangyan (1056–1121), also called Meicheng, came from Qiantang, today's Hangzhou. He knew music deeply and could compose tunes himself. In later life he ran the court's music office. His lyrics are carefully worded and strictly musical, and later readers saw him as the master who brought together all the best of Northern Song lyrics.

周邦彦（1056—1121），字美成，号清真居士，钱塘（今浙江杭州）人。他精通音乐，自己能写曲子，晚年曾管理朝廷的音乐机构大晟府。他的词用字讲究，音律严密，被后人看作北宋词的集大成者。

The mood意境

The opening is like a picture. A man, still drunk, is helped onto his horse, and even the morning wind cannot wake him. As he rides, green tiles and red eaves shine in a bend of the river, and a pavilion appears behind the willows. Suddenly he knows it: his own old poem is still on the wall, but it is covered with cobwebs and moss. One old poem brings all the lost years back at once. In the second stanza he remembers the singing girl of Jiangling. Her songs were so sad; whom does she sing for now? The last lines are moving. If she were still here, there would be no need for a farewell song. The tears would fall before the song was done. The lyric moves slowly from the scene before his eyes to the softest place in his heart.

开头很有画面感：一个人醉醺醺地被扶上马，早晨的风都吹不醒他。走着走着，河湾里倒映着青瓦红檐，柳树后面露出一座亭子。他忽然认出来了，墙上还有自己当年写的诗，可是已经蛛网罩着，青苔长满。一首旧诗，就把多年的时光一下子拉到眼前。下阕他想起江陵的歌女：她的歌那么凄凉，现在又唱给谁听呢？最后几句很动人：如果她还在，根本不用唱送别的歌，歌还没唱完，眼泪就先流下来了。整首词从眼前的景，慢慢走到心里最软的地方。
