Background创作背景

This is a lyric about seeing spring off, about not wanting it to leave. Zhu Shuzhen's marriage was unhappy, and she often carried a sorrow she could not speak of. So when she writes about spring leaving, she is also grieving her own youth slipping away. The year it was written is not known. Many of her works were burned after her death. What survives was later gathered into a book called Duanchang Ci, Lyrics of a Broken Heart.

这是一首送春词，写春天离去时的不舍。朱淑真一生婚姻不顺，心里常有说不出的愁，所以她写春天的离去，也带着对自己青春流逝的感伤。这首词具体写于哪一年已经不清楚。她的许多作品在她死后被烧掉，留下来的由后人收进《断肠词》。

The poet作者

Zhu Shuzhen, who called herself the Hermit of Quiet Dwelling, was a well-known woman poet of the Song dynasty, usually said to come from Qiantang, today's Hangzhou. Very little is recorded about her life, and her dates are not known. It is said her marriage was unhappy and she lived in sorrow. Her poems are tender and often about loneliness and grief. People often mention her alongside Li Qingzhao.

朱淑真，号幽栖居士，宋代有名的女词人，一般认为是钱塘（今浙江杭州）人。她的生平记载很少，生卒年也不清楚。据说她婚姻不幸福，一生抑郁。她的诗词感情细腻，多写孤独和愁苦，后人常把她和李清照相提并论。

The mood意境

This lyric treats spring like a friend who is about to leave. The opening is full of imagination. Outside the tower hang thousands of willow strands, and she wants to use them to tie spring down. But spring stays only a moment and goes anyway. The willow fluff drifts in the wind, as if it cannot bear to part with spring and wants to follow it home. In the second half the hills and rivers are all green, and the cuckoo is crying. She asks: even if the cuckoo has no feelings, is it grieving for people too? At the end she raises a cup to see spring off. Spring says nothing, but at dusk the rain begins to fall. The rain seems like spring's answer, and also like her tears.
