How to read it读音

长cháng: It reads cháng and means always.长是：读 cháng，同“常”，意思是总是。
头tóu: In everyday speech the word for pillow is said with a light second syllable; when reading this lyric aloud, it is usually read tóu.枕头：现在口语读轻声 zhěntou，读这首词时一般把“头”读 tóu。

Background创作背景

This lyric is about missing someone far away on an autumn night. We do not know exactly when or where it was written, and it does not say who is being missed; one view is that it is the poet's wife. Fan Zhongyan served for many years as an official in different places, and once led troops guarding the northwest border, so he was often far from home. This lyric is very gentle, quite unlike his frontier lyric "Yu Jia Ao".

这首词写的是秋夜里思念远方的人。具体写作时间和地点都不清楚，词里想念的是谁也没有明说，一说是想念远方的妻子。范仲淹做过很多年地方官，还在西北边境带兵守卫过，常常离家很远。这首词写得很柔，和他写边塞的《渔家傲》很不一样。

The poet作者

Fan Zhongyan (989–1052) was a famous statesman and writer of the Northern Song. He grew up very poor and became an official by studying hard. His essay "The Yueyang Tower" has a famous line: be the first to worry about the world's troubles and the last to enjoy its pleasures. Few of his lyrics survive, but this one about longing feels true and moving.

范仲淹（989—1052），北宋名臣，也是文学家。他小时候家里很穷，靠刻苦读书做了官。他写的《岳阳楼记》里有一句“先天下之忧而忧，后天下之乐而乐”，非常有名。他的词留下来的不多，但这首写相思的，读起来很真切动人。

The mood意境

The first half paints the scene. Leaves fall one by one onto the steps. The night is still, with only the small sounds of the wind. The tower is empty, the Milky Way hangs so low it seems to touch the ground, and the moonlight is white as silk. Every year this night is just as lovely, yet the one I miss is never here. The lovelier the scene, the lonelier the person. The second half turns to feelings. He wants wine to drown his sorrow, but before he drinks, the tears come first, which is sadder than crying when drunk. The lamp is dying, the pillow tilts, and he knows every taste of sleeping alone. The last lines are the most famous: this sorrow, if not on the brow, is in the heart, and there is no escape. Later the poet Li Qingzhao wrote a line much like it: just as it leaves the brow, it climbs into the heart.

上半首写景。树叶一片片落在台阶上，夜很静，只有细碎的风声。楼上空空的，银河低得好像垂到了地上，月光白得像绸子。每年这一夜月色都这么美，可想念的人总不在身边。景越美，人越孤单。下半首写心情。想借酒消愁，酒还没喝，眼泪先流下来了，比“喝醉了哭”还要伤心。灯快灭了，枕头斜着，一个人睡的滋味全尝遍了。最后一句最有名：这份心事，不在眉头，就在心上，怎么也躲不开。后来李清照写“才下眉头，却上心头”，就和这一句很像。
