觉jué: Here shuì jué means waking up from sleep, so the second character is read jué, not jiào.“睡觉”在这里是“睡醒”的意思，“觉”读 jué，不读 jiào。
弹tán: Here it means to flick or splash down, so it is read tán, not dàn.这里是“弹落、溅落”的意思，读 tán，不读 dàn。
重chóng: Here it means "again", so it is read chóng.这里是“再一次”的意思，读 chóng。
省xǐng: Here it means to think back, so it is read xǐng, not shěng.这里是“回想、醒悟”的意思，读 xǐng，不读 shěng。

Background创作背景

This lyric is about a young woman who misses her beloved far away. The first stanza shows her waking in the daytime and the lonely house. The second shows her remembering the past and imagining what she will ask him when he comes back. We do not know whom it was written for or in what year. An old notebook links it to a singing girl Lu Song once loved, but that is only a story.

这首词写一位女子思念远方的心上人。上阕写她白天睡醒后的样子和冷清的房子，下阕写她回想当初，又想象他回来后要怎样问他。这首词具体写给谁、写在哪一年，现在不清楚。有笔记说它和陆淞爱过的一位歌女有关，但这只是传说。

The poet作者

Lu Song, also called Ziyi, came from Shanyin, today's Shaoxing in Zhejiang. He was the elder brother of the great Southern Song poet Lu You. Very few of his lyrics survive. This one was chosen for the famous anthology Three Hundred Song Lyrics and is his best-known work. It is soft and delicate, and shows a young woman's feelings very truly.

陆淞，字子逸，号云溪，山阴（今浙江绍兴）人，是南宋大诗人陆游的哥哥。他留下来的词很少，这首《瑞鹤仙》被选进《宋词三百首》，是他最有名的作品。词写得细腻柔美，把女子的心事写得很真。

The mood意境

This lyric is like a set of slow-motion shots. First her face: she has just woken, the pillow has left a red mark, and her cap is crooked. Then the room: the incense is cold, she frowns, and her tears smudge her powder. Outside, swallows fly in pairs, which makes her loneliness clearer. She wants to talk, but no one is there to listen, and she has grown thin. In the second stanza she goes back to the past: the lamp, the red curtains, the moonlight, the gauze window, she remembers each one. Now even dreams cannot be trusted. The best part is the ending. She has it all planned. When he comes home she will point to the flowers to show him spring is nearly over, then ask about his promise. In that question there is blame, there is teasing, and there is deep love.
