Background创作背景

This ci shows a quiet day in early autumn. The autumn wind blows and the parasol leaves fall. The poet drinks a little wine and sleeps by a small window. When he wakes, the flowers are fading and the setting sun lies on the railing. We do not know exactly when it was written. Yan Shu had a smooth career and an easy, wealthy life. Many of his ci, like this one, show a faint sadness that is hard to name, felt in calm days.

这首词写初秋时节一个安静的日子：秋风吹，梧桐落叶，词人喝了点酒，在小窗下睡了一觉，醒来看见花谢了，夕阳照着栏杆。写作的具体时间不清楚。晏殊一生做官顺利，生活富贵悠闲，他的很多词就像这首一样，写的是平静日子里一点淡淡的、说不清的愁。

The poet作者

Yan Shu (991–1055), styled Tongshu, came from Linchuan, today's Fuzhou in Jiangxi. He was a Northern Song ci poet. As a boy he was called a child genius, and later he became chief minister, living a long, comfortable life. His ci use clear, graceful words and quiet feelings, often the faint sadness that comes as the seasons change. His youngest son, Yan Jidao, was also a famous ci poet.

晏殊（991—1055），字同叔，抚州临川（今江西抚州）人，北宋词人。他小时候就被称为“神童”，后来做到宰相，一生富贵平顺。他的词语言清丽，感情含蓄，常写季节变换带来的淡淡惆怅。他的小儿子晏几道也是有名的词人。

The mood意境

There is not one word for sorrow in this ci, yet a soft autumn sadness is everywhere. At the start the wind is gentle, and the leaves fall one by one. The sounds are quiet and the movements slow. A little wine makes one drunk, and the sleep by the small window is deep, which seems pleasant. On waking, the flowers have faded and the setting sun slants across the railing: another day is gone. The swallows are about to leave, and last night there was a chill by the screen. The poet simply sets these small things out one after another. The season is quietly changing, and a hollow feeling slowly rises in the heart.

整首词没有一个“愁”字，却处处是秋天的淡淡愁绪。开头的风是“细细”的，叶子是“叶叶”落下的，声音很轻，动作很慢。喝一点酒就醉，在小窗下睡得很沉，看上去很舒服。醒来一看，花谢了，夕阳斜斜地照在栏杆上，一天又过去了。燕子要飞走了，昨夜屏风边已经有了凉意。词人只是把这些小事一件件摆出来，季节在悄悄变，人心里那一点空落落的感觉，也就慢慢出来了。
