Background创作背景

This lyric is usually thought to have been written while Xin Qiji, removed from office, was living at Daihu Lake in Shangrao. Mount Bo is in today's Guangfeng, Jiangxi, not far from Shangrao, and he often went there. The 'Wang family hut' was a small thatched hut belonging to a family named Wang. One autumn night he stayed there alone in the shabby little hut, woke in the night, and wrote this lyric.

这首词一般认为是辛弃疾被罢官、闲居上饶带湖时写的。博山在今江西广丰境内，离上饶不远，他常去那里游玩。“王氏庵”是一户姓王的人家的小草屋。一个秋天的夜里，他一个人借住在这间破旧的小屋里，夜里醒来，写下了这首词。

The poet作者

Xin Qiji (1140–1207), known as Jiaxuan, was a great ci writer of the Southern Song. In his early twenties he rose up against the Jin in the north. With a few dozen men he rode into a Jin camp of tens of thousands and captured a traitor, then went south. He longed to win back the north, but he was never given real power and was removed from office many times. His lyrics often tie his own fate to the fate of his country.

辛弃疾（1140—1207），号稼轩，南宋大词人。他二十多岁就在北方起兵抗金，带着几十个人冲进几万人的金营抓回叛徒，后来到了南方。他一心想收复北方，却总是不被重用，多次被罢官。他的词常把个人的遭遇和国家的命运连在一起。

The mood意境

The first half shows night in a shabby hut. Rats run round the bed, bats flit around the lamp, wind and rain roar outside, and the torn window paper flaps and mutters. It is cold and desolate, the kind of place where most people could not sleep. The second half turns. He thinks of his whole life spent travelling north and south for his country, and how he has come back with white hair. The last two lines are the most moving. On an autumn night, under a coarse quilt, he wakes from a dream, and before his eyes lie ten thousand li of rivers and hills. He is old and lives in a broken hut, yet his heart is still set on winning back the land. The bleaker the first half, the stronger this wish shines.

上半首写破屋的夜：老鼠绕床跑，蝙蝠围灯飞，屋外风雨大作，窗纸被吹得呼呼响。又冷清又荒凉，一般人早就睡不着了。下半首一转：他想起自己一辈子南征北战，回来时已经满头白发。最后两句最动人：秋夜里盖着粗布被子，从梦中醒来，眼前还是那万里江山。人已经老了，住在破屋里，心里想的却还是收复国土。前面写得越荒凉，越显出这份心愿的执着。
