How to read it读音

长cháng: Here it means "always", so it is read cháng, not zhǎng.这里是“常常、一直”的意思，读 cháng，不读 zhǎng。
了liǎo: Cái liǎo means just finished, so it is read liǎo, rhyming with zhào, cǎo, lǎo and xiǎo.“才了”是“刚刚弄完”，“了”读 liǎo，和“照、草、老、晓”押韵。
朝zhāo: Zhāo yǔ means morning rain, so it is read zhāo, not cháo.“朝雨”是早晨的雨，“朝”读 zhāo，不读 cháo。
甚shèn: Shèn shí means "when". Here the first character is read shèn; some people read it shén.“甚时”就是“什么时候”。“甚”在这里读 shèn，也有人读 shén。

Background创作背景

The first stanza shows wind and snow in the northern borderlands, wild hills and a lonely inn. The second shows the poet missing the woman he loves at home. Words like "northern horses" and "our flags" show it is a journey near the northern border. One view says Shi Yan wrote it on the road when he was sent as an envoy to the Liao state in the north, but the time is not known.

这首词上阕写北方边地的风雪、荒山和冷清的旅馆，下阕写对家中心上人的思念。从“胡马”“汉旗”这些词看，写的是北方边境上的旅途。一说这是时彦奉命出使北方的辽国时，在路上写的，但具体时间不清楚。

The poet作者

Shi Yan, also called Bangmei, came from Kaifeng in Henan and lived in the Northern Song. In 1079 he came first in the highest imperial exam. Very few of his lyrics survive, and this one was chosen for the famous anthology Three Hundred Song Lyrics.

时彦，字邦美，开封（今河南开封）人，北宋人。宋神宗元丰二年（1079），他考中进士第一名，也就是状元。他留下来的词非常少，这首《青门饮》被选进了《宋词三百首》。

The mood意境

The first stanza is like a cold frontier painting. Horses neigh in the wind, flags flap in the snow, dark clouds press down, and the sun is only a pole's height from the ground. He passes old trees, wild hills, sand and dry grass, and at night he stops at a lonely inn. He cannot sleep. The lamp wick knots again and again, the incense smoke is thick, the candle's tears freeze, and dawn will not come. The second stanza suddenly turns warm. He remembers the morning they parted: she had just made herself up, and the farewell cup was not yet empty. Drunk or dreaming, he sees only her, but waking brings only sorrow. At the end he hopes that one day he will gallop home and she will meet him at the door with a smile. The colder the world outside, the warmer that smile feels.

上阕像一幅冷冷的边塞画：马在风里叫，旗在雪里翻，乌云压着，夕阳只剩一竿高。古树、乱山、沙地、枯草，一路走过来，到了夜里只住进一间冷清的旅馆。他睡不着，灯花结了又结，香炉烟浓，蜡烛的泪都冻住了，天怎么也不亮。下阕一下子暖了起来：他想起分别那天早晨，她刚梳好妆，送别酒还没喝完。醉里梦里都是她，醒来却只剩烦恼。最后他盼着有一天骑马飞奔回去，她在门口笑着迎接他。越是外面冷，这一笑就越显得温暖。
