Background创作背景

This lyric is usually dated to the spring of 1032. Ouyang Xiu was then an official in Luoyang. He and an old friend came back to the east side of the city, where they had enjoyed the flowers together the year before. One account says the friend was the poet Mei Yaochen. They had only just met again and would soon have to part, so Ouyang Xiu wrote this lyric.

一般认为，这首词是宋仁宗明道元年（1032年）春天写的。那时欧阳修在洛阳做官，和一位老朋友重游洛阳城东，想起去年曾一起在这里赏花。一说这位朋友是诗人梅尧臣。朋友相聚不久又要分开，欧阳修就写下了这首词。

The poet作者

Ouyang Xiu (1007–1072) was a great writer of the Northern Song. He called himself the Old Drunkard, and he is one of the Eight Great Prose Masters of Tang and Song. As a young official in Luoyang, he often went out with friends such as Mei Yaochen to enjoy the hills, write poems and drink. He cared deeply about friendship, and this lyric is about meeting a friend and having to part again.

欧阳修（1007—1072），北宋文学家，号醉翁，是“唐宋八大家”之一。他年轻时在洛阳做官，和梅尧臣等朋友常常一起游山玩水、写诗喝酒。他很看重友情，这首词写的就是和朋友相聚又分别的心情。

The mood意境

At the start, the poet raises his cup and talks to the spring wind, asking it not to leave so fast. What he really wants to keep is not the wind, but the happy time with his friend. Then he sees the willows and roads east of Luoyang, and remembers walking hand in hand through the flowers last year. The second half says what hurts: meetings are always too short, and partings come too soon. The last three lines are the best. This year's flowers are redder than last year's, and next year's will be even better. But who will come with me to see them? The flowers grow more beautiful each year, while friends may drift apart. The lovelier the flowers, the sadder the parting feels.

词一开头，诗人就端起酒杯对春风说话，求它别走得太快。其实他想留住的不是风，而是和朋友在一起的好时光。接着他看到洛阳城东的垂柳和大路，想起去年两个人手拉手走遍花丛。下半首说出心里的苦：见面总是太短，分别总是太快。最后三句最妙：今年的花比去年红，明年的花会更好，可是明年谁陪我来看呢？花越开越美，人却说不定散了。越是写花好，越让人觉得分别难过。
