怅卧chàng wò: chang wo: lying down, feeling lost and sad.怅卧：心里失落地躺着。
白袷衣bái jiá yī: bai jia yi: a white lined jacket, the casual clothes people wore at home in the Tang.白袷衣：白色的夹衣，是唐代人在家闲居时穿的便服。
白门bái mén: Bai men: White Gate. It was another name for Jinling (today's Nanjing), and later often meant a place where lovers met. Here it is where the poet once met the one he loves.白门：本来是金陵（今天的南京）的别称，后来常指男女约会的地方。这里指诗人和心上人曾经相会的地方。
寥落liáo luò: liao luo: empty and lonely.寥落：冷清、空荡荡。

How to read it读音

袷jiá: In jia yi (a lined jacket) this character is read jiá, the same as the word for "lined".“袷衣”是夹衣，这里“袷”读 jiá，同“夹”。

Background创作背景

We do not know when this poem was written. It tells of a rainy spring night. The poet goes back to the place where he once met the one he loves, but she is gone. He gazes at the red mansion through the rain, walks home alone, dreams of her at night, and wants to send a letter but has no way to send it. Some think it was written for a lover. Others think it also hides the poet's frustration with his career.

这首诗的写作时间不清楚。诗里写的是春雨的晚上，诗人回到曾经和心上人相会的地方，人已经不在了。他在雨中望着红楼，独自回家，夜里梦见她，想写信却不知道怎么寄出去。有人认为这是写给一位恋人的；也有人认为诗里还藏着诗人自己仕途不顺的苦闷。

The poet作者

Li Shangyin (about 813 to about 858) was a late Tang poet. He was good at writing hazy, delicate feelings, often hiding them behind scenery and old stories. His poems are beautiful to read, but their meaning is hard to pin down. "Spring Rain" is one of his best-known poems about parting and longing.

李商隐（约813—约858），晚唐诗人。他的诗善于写朦胧、细腻的感情，常常借景物和典故把心事藏起来，读起来很美，但意思不太好猜。这首《春雨》就是他写离别相思的代表作之一。

The mood意境

The whole poem is wrapped in spring rain. The finest lines are three and four. Through the rain he sees the red mansion. The building is still there but she is not, so even looking at it feels cold. Lit by the lamps, the strands of rain look like bead curtains, and he walks home alone. There is red and white, lamplight and rain, a lovely picture with a lonely heart inside it. The last four lines reach further and further away. He imagines her grieving for spring too, sees her only in dreams, and wants to send a letter but does not know where. At the end, one wild goose flies in clouds spread like a net, small and alone, like the letter that can never be sent.

全诗都笼罩在一片春雨里。最美的是第三、四句：隔着雨看红楼，楼还在，人却不在了，所以连看过去都觉得冷；雨丝被灯光照亮，像一挂挂珠帘，诗人一个人走回家。颜色有红有白，有灯光有雨丝，画面很美，心里却很孤单。后四句越想越远：想她在远方也在伤春，只能在梦里见她，想送信却不知道送到哪里。最后一只大雁飞在像网一样的云里，又小又孤单，好像那封永远寄不出的信。
