This uses the common text. Line three usually reads kōng shān sōng zǐ luò, "in the empty hills pine cones fall"; another version has shān kōng, "the hills are empty", with almost the same meaning. The usual title names the friend Qiu the Official; the original title calls him Qiu the Twenty-second, Official. The two written forms of Qiu are the same surname.
