qīng清píng平yuè乐·liú留rén人bú不zhù住

This ci shows a woman seeing off the man she loves at a ferry landing in spring. She wants him to stay but cannot keep him. Drunk, he sets off in his boat. She stands at the landing watching the boat go farther and farther away, both heartbroken and bitter. We do not know exactly when it was written. Yan Jidao often wrote about parting and longing in a woman's voice, and this ci is usually read that way too.

这首词写一个女子在春天的渡口送别心上人。她想留他留不住，他喝醉了就开船走了。她站在渡口，看着船越走越远，心里又伤心又怨恨。写作的具体时间不清楚。晏几道的词常借女子的口吻写离别和相思，一般认为这首也是这样。

Yan Jidao (about 1038 to about 1110), styled Shuyuan, also called Xiaoshan, was the youngest son of the Northern Song chief minister Yan Shu. He was born rich, but his family later declined and he only ever held small posts. He was proud and deeply loving. His ci are mostly about love, parting and memories, in clear words with true feeling. People call him and his father the Two Yans.

晏几道（约1038—约1110），字叔原，号小山，是北宋宰相晏殊的小儿子。他出身富贵，后来家道中落，一生只做过小官，性格孤傲又痴情。他的词多写爱情、离别和回忆，语言清丽，感情真挚。人们把他和父亲并称“二晏”。

The opening words, he would not stay, set the scene at once: nothing she does can keep him. Drunk, he unties the boat and goes. The boat rows farther and farther over the green spring water, past one place after another where orioles sing. The lovelier the spring, the lonelier she seems. The second stanza leaves her at the landing. The willows are green, and every branch and every leaf seems full of the pain of parting. The last two lines are words said in anger: don't send me any more letters; the love we had was never to be trusted. She says she wants nothing, but only because she cares so much. This mix of love and resentment feels very real.

开头四个字“留人不住”，一下子把场面摆出来：怎么挽留都没用。他醉醺醺地解开船走了，船在碧绿的春水里越划越远，经过一处处黄莺啼叫的地方。春光越美，越显得她孤单。下片写她留在渡口，杨柳青青，好像每根枝条、每片叶子都写满了离愁。最后两句是气话：以后别再寄信来了，当初的情意原来都靠不住。嘴上说不要，其实是因为太在乎。这种又爱又怨的心情，写得很真。
