Background创作背景

We do not know when or why this lyric was written. From its words, Yan Shu is looking back on lovely people and times he once knew. He sighs that they could not be kept, like a spring dream or autumn clouds, and so he urges people to enjoy life while they can. There is a nearly identical lyric to the tune Yu Lou Chun under the name of Ouyang Xiu, with only a few words different. The lyric spread widely, and accounts of its author differ.

这首词写的时间和缘由都不清楚。从词意看，是晏殊回想过去遇到的美好的人和事，感叹它们像春梦秋云一样留不住，于是劝人及时行乐。词集中另有一首几乎一样的《玉楼春》，署名欧阳修，只有几个字不同，可见这首词流传很广，作者也有不同说法。

The poet作者

Yan Shu (991–1055) was a Northern Song lyric poet. He was a child prodigy, sent to the court at fourteen, and later became chief minister. His life was calm and comfortable. His lyrics are gentle and refined, and under their calm there is often sorrow at time slipping away. He helped the careers of Ouyang Xiu, Fan Zhongyan and others.

晏殊（991—1055），字同叔，北宋词人。他从小就是“神童”，十四岁被推荐进朝廷，后来做到宰相。他一生生活安稳富贵，词写得温婉雅致，常常在平静中透出对时光流逝的感伤。欧阳修、范仲淹等人都受过他的提拔。

The mood意境

The first line makes us feel a season leaving: swallows, geese and orioles fly off one by one, and spring goes with them. Then the poet counts up life. It is full of tangled threads, yet good times are as short as a spring dream and scatter like autumn clouds. The second half uses two stories, Zhuo Wenjun and the river goddesses, people lovely and hard to keep. Even if you tear their sleeves, they will not stay. At last he says: don't be the only one sober and sad; get drunk among the flowers. On the surface he is urging us to drink; underneath is a deep helplessness.

开头一句就让人感到季节的离去：燕子、大雁、黄莺一个个飞走了，春天也走了。接着词人算起人生的账：千头万绪，好时光却像春梦一样短，像秋云一样散。下片用了两个故事，卓文君和汉水仙女，都是美好又难留的人，就算拉断了衣服也留不住。最后他劝人：别做那个独自清醒、独自难过的人，在花间醉一场吧。表面上是劝人喝酒，底下其实是很深的无奈。
