Underlined words have notes: tap one. The Pinyin button below shows or hides all pinyin. 一 and 不 are marked with the tone you actually say.字下有虚线的,点开有注释。下方的“拼音”按钮可以显示或隐藏全部拼音。“一”“不”标的是实际读出来的变调。

In the source text, the second line has nan gai (hard to change). Today's textbooks and most editions have wu gai (has not changed), which is used here. The original title is "Two Poems Written on Returning Home"; this is the first one.

底本第二句作“乡音难改鬓毛衰”,现在课本和通行本作“乡音无改鬓毛衰”,这里按课本。原题是《回乡偶书二首》,这是第一首。

Background创作背景

In 744, He Zhizhang was over eighty years old. He gave up his post and went back to his home town, Yongxing in Yuezhou (today's Xiaoshan in Hangzhou, Zhejiang). He had left home young and served as an official in Chang'an for nearly fifty years. Now at last he came back. The word ou shu in the title means "written down on a whim". At home he found everything both familiar and strange, and he wrote these two poems.

唐玄宗天宝三载(744年),贺知章已经八十多岁了。他辞去官职,回到老家越州永兴(今浙江杭州萧山)。他年轻时离开家,在长安做官将近五十年,这次终于回来了。题目里的“偶书”,就是随手写下来的意思。回到家乡,他看到了熟悉又陌生的一切,写下了这两首诗。

The poet作者

He Zhizhang (659–744) was a Tang poet. He was bold and free and loved wine, and called himself the Wild Guest of Siming. He admired Li Bai, and legend says it was he who called Li Bai "an immortal banished from heaven". Few of his poems survive, but this one and "Ode to the Willow" are known everywhere.

贺知章(659—744),唐代诗人,性格豪放,爱喝酒,自称“四明狂客”。他很欣赏李白,传说是他把李白称作“谪仙人”(从天上被贬到人间的仙人)。他留下的诗不多,但这首诗和《咏柳》流传很广。

The mood意境

The first two lines sound plain, like a man talking about himself. He left young and came back old. His accent did not change, but his hair turned white. Putting "unchanged" next to "changed" shows decades passing in a moment. The last two lines paint a funny scene. Children gather round and cheerfully ask the old man where he is from. The children are innocent, but the poet feels many things at once. This is his own home, yet he has become a "guest". The poem never says the word sad, but every reader can feel the sigh in it.

前两句很平淡,像在说自己的事:小时候走,老了回;口音没变,头发白了。“没变”和“变了”放在一起,几十年的时间一下子就出来了。后两句画面很有趣:孩子们围过来,笑着问老爷爷从哪里来。孩子是天真的,诗人心里却五味杂陈。明明这里是自己的家,自己却成了“客人”。诗里没写一个“愁”字,可是那份感慨,读的人都能感觉到。
