薄bó: In bó hàn (a light sweat) the character is read bó. In everyday speech, meaning thin, it is often read báo.“薄汗”的“薄”读 bó，指一层细细的汗。口语里说“很薄”时读 báo。
刬chǎn: Read chǎn. Wà chǎn means walking in socks only, without shoes.读 chǎn。“袜刬”是只穿着袜子走路，没穿鞋。

Background创作背景

This poem shows one small moment: a young girl in a garden at the end of spring has just finished swinging when a guest suddenly arrives. Who wrote it is debated. Some books say Li Qingzhao, some say the author is unknown, and others name Su Shi or Zhou Bangyan. Today many people read it as a work of the young Li Qingzhao, but this cannot be proven.

The poet作者

The author is unknown. The most common view is Li Qingzhao (1084–about 1155), from Zhangqiu near Jinan, the most famous woman writer of song lyrics in the Song dynasty. The lyrics of her girlhood are lively and bright, mostly about life at home. This poem feels much like her early work, so many people think she wrote it.

The mood意境

This poem is like a short film. The first half is a quiet picture: the girl has just finished swinging, lazily rubs her hands, and has a light sweat on her skin. The heavy dew and thin flowers describe the garden, and also set off how young and tender she is. In the second half the picture suddenly moves: a guest is coming! She is so flustered that she runs off in her socks, and her gold hairpin falls out. Red in the face, she hurries away. But at the door she cannot help looking back, and she pretends to sniff a green plum to hide her curiosity. Shy, flustered and curious: a few small actions bring the girl's feelings to life.
