How to read it读音

重zhòng: Read zhòng, meaning heavy: the flowers are weighed down with rain. It is not chóng.读 zhòng，是“沉重”的意思：花沾了雨水，变得沉甸甸的。不读 chóng。

Background创作背景

In the spring of 761, Du Fu was living in his thatched cottage on the western edge of Chengdu. Before that he had spent years fleeing war. In Chengdu his life was finally a little more settled. He grew vegetables and flowers himself and cared a lot about the crops. One spring night a gentle rain came just when it was needed. He was very happy, and wrote this poem.

上元二年（761年）春天，杜甫住在成都西郊的草堂。在这之前，他经历了几年战乱和逃难，到成都后才过上了比较安定的生活。他亲手种菜种花，很关心庄稼的收成。一个春夜，下起了及时的小雨，他非常高兴，就写下了这首诗。

The poet作者

Du Fu (712–770) was a great Tang poet, called the Sage of Poetry. Most of his poems are heavy, about war and the people's suffering. In his years at the Chengdu cottage he wrote many fresh, light poems, and this is the most famous of them.

杜甫（712—770），唐代大诗人，被称为“诗圣”。他的诗大多沉重，写战乱和百姓的苦。在成都草堂的几年，他写了不少清新、轻快的诗，这首《春夜喜雨》就是其中最有名的一首。

The mood意境

The title has the word "happy", but the poem never says it again. Still, the joy is everywhere. Du Fu writes the spring rain like a thoughtful person: it knows when to come, comes quietly at night, falls fine and soundless, bothers no one, and simply waters everything. "Watering everything, fine and soundless" is now often used for the quiet care of a good teacher or parent. The third couplet shows the night: all around is black, with only one lamp on a river boat, so the rain must be thick and steady. At the end the poet imagines tomorrow morning: the whole city full of red flowers, wet, heavy and bright, and all the beauty of spring right before your eyes.

题目里有个“喜”字，可整首诗没有一个“喜”字，喜悦却处处都在。诗人把春雨写得像一个懂事的人：它知道什么时候该来，悄悄地在夜里来，细细的，不出声，不打扰人，只默默地滋润万物。“润物细无声”后来常被用来比喻好老师、好父母对孩子不声不响的关怀。第三联写夜景：四周一片黑，只有江上一点灯火，说明雨下得又密又久。最后诗人想象明天早上，满城红花沾着雨水，沉甸甸的，又湿又艳，春天的美好全在眼前。
